LT. GOVERNOR AND UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP FOR TECHNOLOGY


    CARSON CITY - Lieutenant Governor Lorraine Hunt and University
    Chancellor Dr. Jane Nichols have unveiled the Nevada Technology Partnership in a statewide announcement on June 21, 2001. Community leaders from rural Nevada joined with their counterparts in Reno and Las Vegas to hear the announcement simultaneously. "Everyone from Winnemucca to Pahrump participated in this innovative partnership for Nevada's economic future," said Lt. Governor Hunt.

    Statewide collaboration by a blue-ribbon technology task force examine thede strengths and weaknesses of Nevada's emerging technology industries. This recent technology strategy indicates the need to strengthen a public/private partnership in Nevada in order to continue the state's current growth in the technology sectors.

    Board of Regent s Chair Thalia Dondero and Executive Director of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development Bob Shriver joined the Lieutenant Governor and UCCSN Chancellor to announce the public and private technology partnership for Nevada's new economy.

    The unveiling of the new "Nevada Technology Partnership" was videoconferenced to several locations across Nevada including Desert Research Institute, Reno; Desert Research Institute, Las Vegas; Great Basin College, Elko; Great Basin College, Ely; Great Basin College, Winnemucca; Pahrump Cooperative Extension; Western Nevada Community College, High Tech Center in Carson City.
