GOVERNOR'S INDUSTRY APPRECIATION LUNCHEON DISTINGUISHED BUSINESS CRITERIA
- Nominee must be a business having operated for a minimum of five (5)
years in the State of Nevada.
- The company�s industry must be consistent with the Nevada State Plan
for Economic Diversification and Development, and is not gaming, tourism,
medical, hospitality, construction, educational/training, wholesale
or retail sales. The company must be a business that has created primary
jobs and whose primary market extends beyond the State�s border. Qualifying
industries include:
MANUFACTURING: including mining, mining support, assembly, remanufacturing,
recycling, and value-added products
DISTRIBUTION: including traditional warehousing and e-commerce
SERVICE: including research and development, mining services, front
office operations, such as corporate, regional or divisional headquarters,
and back office operations, such as computer service centers, customer
service, Internet services, telemarketing, and claims, credit, order,
accounting and other processing offices
- Company must demonstrate and provide documentation of attributes that
classify them as a good corporate citizen to Nevada. This can be accomplished
through various avenues, i.e., education and training for employees,
on-premises child care facilities, programs to encourage staff participation
in United Way or other such programs, sponsorship of Scout or Special
Olympic activities, and other types of community activities.
- There shall be no employee expansion or physical expansion requirement.
- A previous Distinguished Business Award recipient cannot be nominated
nor receive the Distinguished Business Award more than once in every
ten-year period.
- All companies nominated must pass a rigid background check for compliance
with state law and regulations, good ethics, and fair business practices.
NOMINATION PROCESS:
Nominations are accepted from the regional organizations within the company�s
area of location or the company itself. The state prescribed
Distinguished Business Nomination Form must be completed in full and
submitted by the specified deadline indicated in the form. For further information
