U.S. News and World Report recently named three Nevada schools as part of its '2013 Best High Schools' rankings.  The rankings aim to identify the top-performing public high schools in the country.  Clark County School District, which had two schools on the list, is the nation's fifth-largest school district and one of the fastest growing in the country.

Advanced Technologies Academy was ranked the top high school in Nevada and 304th nationally. The gold-medal winning school had a 62 percent participation rate and an 83 percent passing rate on the Advanced Placement exam.  Advanced Technologies Academy is a magnet school with 1,059 students and is located in Clark County. 

Carson High School is ranked 2nd in Nevada, according to U.S. News and World Report, and 1,662 in the nation. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams, and the AP participation rate at Carson High is 30 percent.  Carson High has a total enrollment of 2,211 students and is located in the Carson City School District.

Northwest Technical and Career Academy in Clark County was ranked the third best high school in Nevada and 2,206th nationally.  The silver-medal winning school had a 27 percent participation rate and a 44 percent passing rate on the Advanced Placement Exam.  The magnet school has 1,881 students.
